ANGELS
PART ONE. DEFINING THEIR ROLES

IMPORTANT NOTE:
We are NOT to worship angels or pray to angels, we are to just have respect and appreciation
for God that he cares enough about us to even allow them to minister us when needed!

I. GOOD ANGELS

The Greek word for angel is " MESSENGERS".
The angels deliver messages for God to us.
Gabriel is the head messenger.

In Luke Chapter 1 God's messenger was a deliverer of good news.
In Luke Chapter 2 angels worked to enhance Christ's ministry to others.
Hebrews 1: 14 clearly tells us they are only servants, spirits sent to minister to Christians.
Matt 4:11 gives us an example of them ministering to Jesus in his time of need.
In Luke 22:43 and angel strengthened Jesus!
Angels are more than God's sent messengers at times, they are:

A. Comforters ( John 20:10-13)
B. Witnesses ( 1 Cor 14:9, 11;10)
C. Holy Cheerleaders ( Luke 15:10)
D. Protectors ( Matt 18:10)
* Matt 2 clearly explains to us that not only do angels protect children but they can cause others
to protect children to!
E. Deliverers From Danger ( Acts 12:5-11)
F) Defenders ( Jude 9)

II. NEAT FACTS

The bible tells us in Hebrews 13:2 that not all angels are recognizable so that means they
are transfiguration, some are here, they are disguised as strangers, so we are to be hospitable
to all strangers you never know when you might be entertaining a angel unaware you are!

The book of Jude tells us that angels are defenders of what is good and right morally.
It also tells us that Michael is one of the mightiest of the angel, he is called a ARCHANGEL,
which is a powerful warrior angel.

2 Kings 6 tells us that these kinds of angels protect us, they are fighting the spiritual battle
against Satan for and with Christians. Ephesians 6:10-18 tells us about that warfare and
that we can win!

III. BAD ANGELS

Just like there are good angels who stand with us in this spiritual battle there are bad ones,
but the bible tells us in Luke 10:19 that we have ALL AUTHORITY over them!

Mark 9:29 shows us that prayer is a POWERFUL weapon, some demons only flee with
godly prayer, that is because some demons ( fallen angels) are more powerful then others
( Matt 12:45) some come in numbers of 7, or more, these are known as "LEGION"...

We are not to use our spiritual power or authority in a divisive or presumptuous way.
In Jude 8-13 even one of the most powerful angels, Michael, rebuked Satan in a respectable
Godly way by saying " MAY THE LORD REBUKE YOU". He dared not to disrespect
celestial beings because it is still God's creature and God will judge them.
We can learn from Michael and his godly manners and respect:

1. We shouldn't slander anyone
2. We shouldn't exaggerate our powers
3. Do not ignore the power of demons

Do not be deceived into thinking that sin is okay by angels who
masquerade as good angels but are not ( Thess 2: 9-10)

HELPFUL HINT:
DEMONS CAN ONLY DECEIVE THOSE WHO ARE INFLUENCED BY EVIL
( Non saved)

THERE ARE ONLY 2 KINDS OF SPIRITS:
1. SPIRITUAL GOATS- unsaved/Satan's sheep
2. SPIRITUAL SHEEP- Saved/God's sheep

IIII. HOW DO WE KNOW BAD ANGELS ( or demons)?

Matthew 7: 15-17 says bad angels pretend to be harmless to us, "harmless sheep",
but THEY ARE NOT! You can know them by their fruits...
In other words, the way they act.
REMEMBER: GOOD TREES PRODUCE GOOD FRUITS....

YOU"LL KNOW WHO IS WHO BY:
1. LOVE- John 13: 34-35
You'll know them by the love that they show others.

2. RIGHTEOUS- 1 John 3: 10-12
HIS will live righteously

3. CONFESS- 1 John 4: 1-3
HIS will confess that Jesus came in the flesh

4. ACKNOWLEDGE- Matt 10: 32
HIS will acknowledge Christ public ally

5. ACTION- 2 Peter 1: 5-8, 2: 1-3
There is physical actions of obedience that follow his kids,
they do not just talk the talk- they walk the walk!

Matt 10: 34-39 says that there is a price to pay for not following God.
If we are to wholeheartedly serve God there is self- sacrificing that MUST be done!

Selfishness is a clear trait of Satan's- they ( him and his followers) have no concern for
anyone but themselves and their goals.

God's people are focused on doing whatever it takes at whatever cost to glorify God!
