ANALYZING ALL ASPECTS OF SELF

1. SELF ESTEEM

SELF ESTEEM IS BASED ON A CHRISTIANS SELF ACCEPTANCE.
THERE ARE BIBLICAL VIEWS ON SELF ESTEEM AND THEY ARE:

A. We need to comprehend that God knew us and planned us BEFORE birth, we are special!
READ Psalm 139:13-16
* We should love and respect ourselves as much as God does, physically and spiritually
* God knew us in the womb, he watched us form, he specially crafted us to be part of
his divine plan

B. We are a workmanship of God's ( Ps 138:8/Eph 2:10)
* god made us individually and has a individual life plan for each of us
* Saints were predestined by him
* We are God's masterpieces

C. Christ has provided life ( John 10:10)
Christ's purpose was to give us a rich and fulfilling life, he loved us enough to care about our
earthly lives, we are special.

D. God desires our fellowship ( John 17:3)
God wants to have us in his life!

E. God is LOVE ( Rom 5:Cool
God loved us enough to send Jesus while we were still sinners

F. Living for God ( 2 Cor 3:2)
* We are literally living testimonies
* We are walking editorials for God

G. Complete in Christ ( Col 2:10)
We are complete once saved, no need for feelings of inadequacy!

H. Chosen by God ( 1 Peter 2:9)
* We are special chosen people
* We are royal priests
* We are a holy nation
* We are God's own possession
* We are a visual aide to sinners ( they see God through us)

KNOWING ALL THESE THINGS WE ARE TO GOD HELPS US TO VALUE OURSELVES MORE!

2. SELF ESTEEM CAN BE HINDERED BY:

A. LOOKING AT OUTWARD APPEARANCES ( 1 Sam 16:7)
* We shouldn't judge a book by its cover
* We shouldn't judge by clothing, looks, size, etc.
* God doesn't judge the outer man, he sees and judges the inner man-
so when we judge the outer man ( including ourselves) we are
displaying character NOT OF GOD!

B. QUESTIONING GOD'S DIRECTION ( ISa 45:9)
* We are NEVER to question God, its disrespectful!
* A curse was on those who doubted
* Doubting can have you doubting things within or pertaining to yourself also

C. DOUBTING GODS GRACE ( 2 Cor 12:9-10)
* God's grace works best in our weakness so we are not to doubt his grace through
our trials , its disastrous!

3. SELF CONDEMNATION IS CAUSED BY: ( LACK OF SELF ESTEEM)

A. THE HEART ( 1 JOHN 3:20)
* God knows everything, he is bigger than our emotions
* Guilt can hinder our relationship with God!

B. CONSCIOUS ( JOHN 8:7-9)
* We are to be honest in our deeds
* We are to have godly thinking and not violate what you know is right, or wrong

C. SINS ( 2 SAM 24: 17)
* We are to take responsibility for our sins
* Sins can have us in bondage so we are to remain free from it

D. THE MOUTH ( Job 9:20)
* The tongue is wicked
* We are to keep our conversations " yes" or "no"'s , mean what we say
* Be honored by our words
* Keep our words

E. EVIL WORKS ( Matt 23:31)
* Evil deeds of ancestors can hinder us ( generational)
* Societies ways can effect us
* Continual sinning instead of self accountability
* Refusing to be saved

All the above things can be avoided by being saved and walking out our faith
by living his word!
All the above things if not controlled can ruin our lives and esteems!

4. SELF CONTROL IS THE KEY:

A. IT IS BROUGHT ABOUT BY JESUS ( Luke 8:35)
* Jesus is the one who brings self control you can only have it if you are in him
* No self control means no Jesus
* Older saints with no self control should check their salvation

B. IT IS BROUGHT ABOUT BY CHRISTIAN GRACE ( 2 Peter 1:6)
God allows self control as part of his grace when we have faith in him-
it comes as we grow in him and slowly master sins.

C. SELF ESTEEM HINDERED BY:
1. Fleshly lusts ( 1 Peter 2:11) * Worldly desires
2. The tongue ( Ps. 39:1-2) * Tongue control
3. Drinking ( Prov 23:29-35) * Alcoholism
4. Sexual Sins ( 1 Thess 4:3-4) * Make you unholy
5. Unclean spirits ( Mark 5:2-16) * Demon Possession
6. Self Expressionism ( Prov 25:28) * How you do it

5. FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO SELF- DECEPTION:

A. Scoffers ( 2 Peter 3:3-4)
* Sometimes the ridicule of others can cause devastating results.

B. Worldliness ( matt 24:48-51)
* The ways of this world can be very convincing but we should see things from God's
perspective so we can see them for what they are.

C. False Teachings ( 1 Thess 5:3)
* False Teaching can lead to ruin, its up to us to know God's word!

We should have healthy self esteem based off biblical standards and not think
to less or high of ourselves but find healthy balances.

It is sinful to exalt ourselves, very vain and prideful.
Attitudes like that are manifested by Satan.
We must stay humble and look to Christ for our role model.

The key to a healthy self esteem is to examine ourselves daily!

6. SELF EXAMINATION:

A. THE PURPOSE OF A SELF EXAMINATION:
1. To test ones faith ( 2 Cor 13:5)
2. To prepare for the Lord Supper ( 1 Cor 11:28-32)
3. To Prove ones work ( Gal 6:4)
4. To test ALL things ( 1 Thess 5:21)

B. WE ARE TO EXAMINE OURSELVES ON THE BASIS OF:
1. God himself- His character ( Ps 26:2)
2. God's Words ( Heb 4:12)
3. Christ Jesus' Example ( Heb 12:1-2)

SELF EXAMINATION LEADS TO SPIRITUAL GROWTH FOR YOURSELF
AND THOSE AROUND YOU!
