EVIL SPEAKING

Speaking evil reflects who you are inside.
As Christians we should be aware of what we say and do - we are to make sure that
it is pleasing to God!

I. WHAT IS SO EVIL ABOUT SPEAKING EVIL?

a. IT IS A SIGN OF UN-REGENERACY ( Ps. 10:7)
* Shows lack of Christianity

b. ITS AIMED AT THE RIGHTEOUS ( Ps. 64:2-5)
* The ungodly target the godly with their words

c. DEFILES THE WHOLE BODY ( James 3:5-10)
* Small words damage the whole body

d. DISRUPTS FELLOWSHIP ( 3 John 9-10)
* Causes Division

e. SEVERELY CONDEMNED ( James 4:11)
* Judged by God, an abomination

f. PUNISHMENT ( 1 Cor 6:9-10)
* Those who do it will not get into heaven

SOMETIMES WE CAN MISJUDGE SOMETHING THAT IS NOT MEANT TO BE
BAD, NOT EVERYTHING IS BAD, SUCH AS:

A. DENUNCIATION A VICE ( Titus 1:12-13)
* We are to reprimand sternly but it must be in love and not by speaking evilly of the person
* Calling out a wicked deed and talking bad about someone are 2 different things

B. DESCRIPTION OF SINNERS ( Acts 13:9-10)
* Calling out a wicked person and their character isnt the same thing as speaking evil about someone

C. DEFENDING FAITH ( Jude 4:8-16)
* Speaking of evils in defense of faith is not the same as speaking evil
