DEFINING SORCERY

Sorcery- Use of supernatural power over others through the assistance of spirits. ( Demons)

Sorcery, or sorcerers ( witches, wizards, warlocks, etc) where common in ancient palaces
of the kings. An example was in Gen 41:8 when Pharaoh had dreams and called them to come and
explain his dreams to him BUT his dreams where sent through God so they couldn't interpret them.
Only Joseph could because he knew God, sorcery or magic, is NOT of God!
God sternly forbids us from the use of sorcery!

1. WHY IS IT FORBIDDEN?

A. Exodus 22:18
* In the Old testament the sorcerers were killed. It was punishable by death because it was directly
disrespecting God. To evoke evil spirits was a violation of the 10th commandment to NOT worship
false idols or any other Gods- its the same thing as joining forces with Satan.

B. Acts 19:18-19
* Sorcery was a sinful practice. Sorcerers and witches, etc today have incantation books-
both black and white magic practices are both evil, and sinful rebellion against God.
Superstition is also wicked and falls under sorcery, or witchcraft. Once you have dabbled
in sorcery it is easy to become obsessed with the power, or to get possessed by it.
The best thing to do is to get rid of ANYTHING that could trap you into such things-
beliefs or practices that are not practiced by Christ, or by his followers are all of SATAN.
As a follower all you need is a bible!

C. EXODUS 7:11
* Sorcery relies on the powers of the underworld, false gods- or demons.
Magic rely on illustrations or trickery. NEITHER are of GOD'S power!
God's power is:
1. Never ending
2. All powerful
3. Can never be beat
Using sorcery or magic has negative consequences and provokes God's anger.
Evil tries to duplicate God's power but can never produce Godly outcomes, and is NEVER
a GREATER power!

D. BALAAM WAS A SORCERER- NUMBERS 22:4-6
Balaam was a sorceror who was called upon to put satanic curses on the other people.
The king of Moab wanted Balaam to put a curse on Israel.
People just don't realize who their fooling with when they insult God so shamefully.
Its bad enough to use sorcery but to turn around and use it on one of God's children is a
double smack in God's face and has a straight ticket to hell attatched to it!

God ended up using Balaam ( numbers 24:15-19) to prove he reigns supreme
and has power and control over everything!

Those who are in to witchcraft, magic, or sorcery or anything that is occultic WILL NOT
enter the gates of heaven. Revelations 22:15 calls them "DOGS"....

The bible stresses in Gal 5:19-21 that they will NOT enter the gates of heaven also,
so make sure that you are not one of those people, or apart of their ways!
We have a great example of a sorcerer in today's world, a popular tv magician
by the name of "Chris Angel Mind Freak", society thinks hes great but the bible
gives fair warning!
