The Inner Judge of Moral Issues

1. THE BIBLE DESCRIBES THE CONSCIOUS AS:
( Various Kinds)

A. Acts 23:1- GOOD CONSCIOUS
A good conscious is one that is clear

B. 1 Tim 3:9- PURE CONSCIOUS
A pure conscious is one that is committed to the faith

C. Hebrews 10:22- EVIL CONSCIOUS
A evil conscious is one that is riddled with guilt and in spiritual bondage

D. 1 Cor 8:7- DEFILED CONSCIOUS
A defiled conscious is one that is violated by the act of another

E. 1 Tim 4:2- SEARED CONSCIOUS
A seared conscious is one that is spiritually dead

2. THERE ARE VARIOUS FUNCTIONS OF THE CONSCIOUS, HERE ARE A FEW:

A.( Romans 2:14, 15) ITS A WITNESS...
*Our conscious allows us to obey God even without knowledge of Jewish laws or ways.
*It comes natural from your heart to do what is right when you are a christian.
*Our conscious bares witness to it God's ways.

B.( John 8:9) IT ACCUSES....
*An accusing conscious is one that convicts us of necessary moral issues or values
so that we do not fall victim to sin.
* If your conscious did not allow you to feel accusing or CONVICTION then there
is a very serious problem somewhere.

C. ( 1 Timothy 1:19) IT UPHOLDS...
* It allows you to hold on to your faith and not to sin against yourself or others,
so that your faith does not waiver all the while holding other Christians up also.

D. ( Romans 13:4,5) IT SERVES GOOD...
* Our conscious keeps itself pure by longing to do what is good.
* A evil conscious doesn't care ab-our decency and order, that is why God
birthed law, to expose the lawless

E. ( 2 Cor 1:12) SOURCE OF JOY...
* When you have a clear conscious it births confidence and assurance, resulting in joy
as you serve God- Even through our hardships!

F. ( Prov 30:20) DEAD CONSCIOUS...
Dead conscious are used to produce dead works that lead to at times physical death-
but always lead to eternal death if unrepentant of, or the person is unsaved!
* A dead conscious has no remorse for their evil deeds.

3. THE LIMITATIONS OF THE SPIRIT WITHIN US IS BECAUSE OF OUR LIMITED MINDS,
OR CONSCIOUS. HERE ARE SOME CONSCIOUS WITH LIMITATIONS:

A. HEBREWS 9:14- NEEDS CLEANSING...
*We need Jesus and biblical knowledge to cleanse our sins so that we can worship God
in spirit and truth

B. 1 Cor 10:28-29- SUBJECTED TO OTHERS...
*Our conscious es are effected by other people and vise verso.
*We can be a encouragement or a hindrance to our brothers and sisters.

C. 1 Cor 8:7-13- SUFFERS...
* Our conscious can be hurt by our own actions, or others, so we should stay
prayed up and rooted in God's word so we can have strength even in suffering.

D. Proverbs 16:25- FALLIBLE...
* Our conscious is prone to error and sin so it is up to us to fine tune our
conscious-es daily and keep honest evaluations of our christian walk

4. A CONSCIOUS IS NEEDED FOR:

A. FREEDOM ( Heb 9:13,14)
We need to be free of sin so that we can grow spiritually.
Sin hinders our conscious and puts up a spiritual blockade and hinders our walk.
Christ gave us freedom to break that bondage- we just have to do our part and walk in it.

B. ACCESS ( Heb 10:21-22)
When we have a clear conscious we then have direct access to God.
A corrupt conscious blocks us from intimacy with God.

C. LIBERTY ( 1 Peter 3:15-16)
Clear conscious gives us liberty to speak openly and bodily for our reasons of faith to others

D. LOVE ( 1 Tim 1:5)
A clear conscious allows us to experience and show real christian love,
which is a expression of our faith.

E. CONFIDENCE ( 1 John 3:21-22)
A clear conscious allows you to experience intimacy and confidence when you go
to God in prayer.

F. PROUDNESS ( 2 Cor 1:12)
You can have healthy pride in your christian walk and relationships with people or God,
with a clear conscious.

5. THERE ARE REQUIREMENTS TO HAVING A CLEAR CONSCIOUS:

A. DOCTRINAL PURITY ( 1 Tim 1:3-
You must have doctrinal or church issues decent and orderly so that you
may walk upright for God with a clear conscious before the assembly and man.
( 1 Tim 2:1, 4:1-2) We must pray for others and do what is expected of us
as church leaders or Christians.

B. PROPER CONDUCT ( Acts 24:10-13, 16)
Proper conduct is carrying yourself with respect for authorities and officials,
also knowing with a clear conscious you have committed no wrongs ( Rom 13:4-6)
Proper conduct and consciously doing what is good instead of bad leads to pure conscious.

C. FAITH IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS ( Heb 9:14, 10:19-22)
The blood of Jesus ( or our salvation) enables us to walk with a healthy,pure,
conscious because of Jesus blood we can bodily go before God!

D. KNOWLEDGE ( 1 Cor 8:7)
Knowledge in God's word allows us to have a clear conscious because we know God's
will and what he expects of us, plus we understand his morals and values. Once we understand
we know what is right and wrong so we do not sin against that which convicts us. ( In our minds)

E. BELIEF ( Titus 1:15)
When you believe in Jesus and live and serve God it allows you to have a pure heart.
But those who do not believe their thoughts are corrupt.
Beliefs effect your conscious.

F. SUBMISSIVE SPIRIT ( 1 Peter 2:18-19)
We are to be submissive even when we are being treated cruelly, we are to trust God,
that way our consciousness are clear when it is time for justice.
The bible says to patiently endure unfair treatment, that enables us to have a clear conscious.

G. FAITH IN God's GREATNESS ( 1 John 3:20)
All of us know him personally that have his spirit within them.
Faith in God's awesomeness allows us to have confidence and frees us from guilt.
God is greater then our feelings!

H. CONSIDERATION OF OTHERS ( 1 Cor 10:28-29)
Consideration for others allows our conscious to be clear and for us not to hinder other peoples walks.
Consideration is godly and allows us to be free from guilt.

I. SEEKING FORGIVENESS ( Prov 28:13)
If we have a willing heart to confess our sins and receive forgiveness from the Lord
then because our spirits spirits seek forgiveness it always keeps our conscious
purged of inequities so we can stand before God bodily. ( Matt 5:23-24)
We are to always have a conscious that seeks to be forgiven by God and our christian
family, especially the world.

WE MUST HAVE A CLEAR CONSCIOUS IN EVERYTHING WE DO SO THE
DEVIL CANNOT GET A FOOTHOLD!
