CHRISTIAN LOVE
As Christian it is mandatory for us to be loving because GOD IS LOVE.
This lesson was birthed to help people understand what biblical love is.
I. UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLES VERSION OF LOVE
a. FIRST COMMANDMENT ( Matt 22:37-38)
* The 1st and greatest command
* We are not only to love God but we must love everyone else also
b. WITH ALL YOUR HEART ( Matt 22:37)
* Love must come from your heart and be with all your heart ( effort)
c. MORE IMPORTANT THAN RITUAL ( Mark 12:31-33)
* Love is not a legalistic ritual
d. LOVE GIVES BOLDNESS( 1 John 4: 17-19)
* Walking in love gives us boldness
* Confidence in the Lord erases fear and doubt
II. THE LOVE WE SHOULD HAVE
Towards and In Christ:
a. LOVE IS A SIGN OF TRUE FAITH ( John 8:42)
* We are to have true love for God and his son
b. MANIFESTATION OF OBEDIENCE ( John 14:15, 21-23)
* Love manifests obedience
* When you love something you want to be good, out of respect for that person
c. LEADS TO SERVICE ( 2 Cor 5:14)
* Love for Christ makes us want to serve him, and our Christian brothers and sisters
* Loves makes you want to save the unsaved
III. WE AS CHRISTIANS SHOULD HAVE A LOVING ATTITUDE TOWARDS OTHERS
a. SECOND COMMANDMENT ( Matthew 22:37-39)
* A biblical command to love others
b. COMMAND BY CHRIST ( John 13:34)
* Christ himself commanded us to love and we must obey him
c. DESCRIBED IN DETAIL ( 1 Cor 13:1-13)
* Love is the greatest of all!
Paul explains in great detail how important love is especially towards other people.
We should consider his words and walk in love, it only takes one person to make a difference!
