ADORNMENT ( MEN OR WOMEN)

ADORNMENT

In today's world women and men adorn themselves elaborately BUT we must know that
there are things in which GOD does NOT approve of, as far as outer garment, especially
where females are concerned!

1. REFERENCE TO "ADORNMENT" and THE USES OF IN THE BIBLE:

a) HARLOTS ADORNED THEMSELVES ( Rev 17:3-4)
* Harlots focus on their outer looks
* They wear fancy clothing

b) WOMEN ADORNED THEMSELVES ( Isa. 3: 16-24/1 Tim 2:9)
* Women ( non prostitutes) focus on their inner beauty and are modest in their adornments
* Women are to wear appropriate ( non male) and decent ( non seductive) clothing
* Decent women do not draw attention to their hair or body with jewelry

c) BRIDES ADORN THEMSELVES ( Rev 21:2)
* Brides dressed elaborately for their husbands on their wedding day ( permissible that day)

2. LITERAL ADORNMENT IS USED SPIRITUALLY TO REPRESENT CERTAIN
THINGS BIBLICALY, SUCH AS:

a) BELIEVERS BEING JUSTIFIED ( Is 61:10)
* We are to be adorned with salvation
* We should be arrayed with fruit of the spirit

b) BELIEVERS AS BEING SANCTIFIED ( Titus 2:10)
* Our ways are what should be attractive to other people

c) SAINTLY WOMEN ( Descriptive of) ( 1 Tim 2:9)
* Saintly women who are spiritual minded dress saintly

3. BIBLICAL GUIDELINES FOR ADORNMENT:

MUST BE IN MODESTY ( 1 Tim 2:9)
* Not focused on external beauty
