A TIME TO CRY
Dealing With Sorrow

I. WE HAVE FREEDOM TO GRIEVE:

A. READ GENESIS 50:1-10
* When Joseph's father Jacob died he buried his father respectfully and he grieved the
loss of his father naturally.

When we loose someone close to us it is natural and healthy to grieve.
During our grief process we need to allow ourselves proper time to mourn, this
is called a Grieving Process...
Each human is different, so is each relationship or situation, so sometimes this process
may be a little harder or take a little longer then others. Crying helps that healing process
and allows us to move forward, tears are healthy.
Allow yourself and others time and freedom to grieve, they have to go through their
grief process and we are to give them time to complete it, with love and understanding.
If you or someone else is having a problem getting through grief you should consult
a Pastor for advice and wisdom and comfort. Sometimes situations may call for a
person to have to seek medical help, sometimes even medication. These are
temporary aides to help us though this process, NOT meant to be permanent!

B. READ JOHN 11:33-37
* Jesus himself even cried ( or grieved) when one of his beloved friends died.
Grief and crying in any sort of traumatic situation is normal but should NOT
consume us. There is a appropriate grieving process.

II. THERE ARE MANY REASONS FOR US TO CRY, HERE ARE A FEW:

A. Ps. 18:6- WHEN IN DISTRESS....
B. Ps. 34:15- WHEN IN NEED OF HELP...
C. Prov. 21:13- WHEN IN POVERTY...

NOTE: God hears ALL CRIES regardless of the reason!!!

We weep and cry for each other as a act of compassion, or love, it shows sympathy.
( 2 Samuel 1:26)
We also weep when a friend or a loved one departs from our lives, or when we have to
leave from a place or person that we love.
( Psalm 126:6)

III. WHAT IS HEALTHY GRIEF?

A. WEEPING FOR JESUS ( Luke 23:28)
B. WEEPING FOR OTHERS ( Romans 12:15)
C. WHEN JOY FILLED ( Luke 6:21)
D. WHEN IN TROUBLE ( Matt 8:12)
E. LOSS/ANGUISH ( Jerm. 31:5, 50:4)

It is okay to cry when in the various circumstances above, it is natural.
It is NOT natural to cry to get your way, manipulate, or deceive.
That kind of behavior is sinful and ungodly- it leads to earthly and spiritual consequences
if you are not repentant of it!
