REVIVAL

DEFINITIONS:

A. Revival- Renewed zeal to obey God.
B. Revive- To live again more vigorously
( vigorously means energetic or lively)

I. WHO IS IT FOR?

THERE MUST BE A CONDITION THAT CAUSES A NEED FOR RENEWAL.
SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED TO US THAT HAS HINDERED US SPIRITUALLY
AND CAUSED A NEED FOR US TO BE REVIVED.

REVIVAL IS NOT MEANT FOR THOSE WHOSE LIVES ARE PEACHY AND
SMELLS LIKE ROSES, ITS MEANT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN BROKEN
AND NEED TO BE RENEWED.

REVIVAL IS SPIRITUAL ENCOURAGEMENT WITHE THE WORD OF GOD.
SOME NEED TO HEAR IT AGAIN AND GET ON FIRE FOR THE LORD,
AND SOME NEED THE HOPE OF HIS WORD BECAUSE THEIR BROKEN
AND READY TO HEAR IT!

II. TIMING IS EVERYTHING

CERTAIN CONDITIONS BIBLICALY ARE PERFECT OPPORTUNITIES FOR
REVIVAL, HERE ARE SOME:

A HUMILITY ( 2 Chr. 7:14)
Solomon, a great king, asked God to make provisions for his people when they sinned-
he interceded for his people. God answered Solomon with 4 conditions for their restoration:
1. HUMBLE themselves ( admit their sin)
2. PRAY ( ask God to forgive personally)
3. SEEK God ( continually, not just when in sin)
4. TURN from sin ( change your ways)

1st and foremost God said HUMBLE YOURSELVES.
If we follow these 4 principles before god then he will answer our prayers,
becasue we came to him on his terms not our own.

REMEMBER: HUMILITY LIGHTS SPIRITUAL FIRES!

B. PRAYER ( James 5:16)
In the prior condition of humility we learned HOW God wants us to approach him,
now we need to understand how to be prayerful continuously, and within ourselves.
James says TO EACH OTHER, so this is not just a solo option it is a team effort also.
We are to pray continuously by:
1. If sin effects us individually then we pray privately
2. If sin effects someone else we go to them and restore the situation prayerfully
3. IF sin effects the church then we go publicly prayerfully
4. IF we need support or help overcoming sin we pray and confess to others
who will in turn pray with us
5. IF we doubt God's forgiveness, its best to confess to another believer we trust
and pray about it ( seek a leader)
See, in everything in life that happens the solution ALWAYS involves prayer in some form!

Once you have humbled yourself and become prayerful in your ways he says we WILL
be healed! Earnest prayers of the righteous has great power and produces wondrous results.
Our most powerful resource as a christian is our communion ( or prayer) with God.

C. BROKEN HEART ( Ps. 34:18)
God has promised that he is close to the broken hearted, he rescues those who
are spiritually crushed. W
Whenever there are trials never doubt that God is near to see you through and with
the right attitude of humility and prayer through your circumstances, then you are bound
to have victory over any situation!

When you are primed with the right attitude then you are ready for revival,
you are ready for the spiritual outburst of energy and excitement, encouragement,
strength and love that you need from your fellow brothers and sisters who understand
and have faced similar trials and tribulations and celebrate victory together with you!
