REPENTANCE
" A Gift From God"
1. REPENTANCE CAN BE BIBLICALY DESCRIBED AS:
a) TURNED ( Acts 9:35)
The people turned to the Lord when they witnessed first hand miracles.
b) REPENT ( Acts 8:22)
Pray to God and tell him what you feel guilty of- apologize to him.
c) RETURN ( 1 Sam 7:3)
Get rid of old things and return back to God's ways.
d) CONVERSION ( Acts 15:3)
Becoming a believer.
2. WHAT KINDS OF REPENTANCE ARE THERE?
a) NATONAL REPENTANCE ( Joel 3:5-18)
A whole nation can turn to God and repent of their ways
b) INTERNAL ( Ps 51:10-13)
Inner repentance, meaning personally convicted of sin
c) UNAVAILING ( Heb 12:16-17)
Repentance that comes to late
d) TRUE ( Acts 9:27-35)
A testimony, a true profound change in someones life,
only accredited to God
e) UNREAL ( Ex 9:27-35)
People fake repentance to manipulate others and get their way
3. REPENTANCE IS A GIFT THAT COMES FROM:
a) GOD ( Acts 11:18)
Salvation is a gift from God, he allows gentiles the "privilege" of repentance
b) CHRIST ( Acts 5:31)
Christ submitted to God's will providing us salvation, he made it a possibility
c) HOLY SPIRIT ( Zech 12:10)
The spirit activates a prayerful , repentant spirit within us
4. THINGS THAT CAN LEAD US TO REPENTANCE:
a) GOD'S LONG SUFFERING ( 2 Peter 3:9)
He is on his time not ours
He takes his time intentionally in hopes all will come to him
b) GOD'S GOODNESS ( Rom 2:4)
His kindness and goodness is intended to turn us from our sins
c) CONVICTION OF SIN ( Acts 2:37-38)
We are pricked with the guilt of our sins
Our sins revealed to us by the spirit so we can repent
5. TRUE REPENTANCE PRODUCES:
a) LIFE ( Acts 11:18)
You receive eternal life when you are truly repentant
b) REMISSION OF SIN ( Mark 1:4)
Forgiveness of sin
c) NEW HEART ( Ezek 18:31)
Repentance brings a change of heart
d) NEW SPIRIT ( Ezek 18:31)
Repentance brings a change in spirit
e) JOY ( Luke 15:7-10)
Heaven rejoices over the saved
6. THERE ARE TRUE SIGNS OF REPENTANCE, THEY ARE:
A> REFORMATION OF LIFE ( Matt 3:
* Change in the way you live
* Your new life is evident
B> RESTITUTION ( Luke 19:
* Paying back or fixing what you've done wrong to make things right
C> GODLY SORROW ( 2 Cor 7:9-10)
* Sorrow that is healthy and brings about godly things to happen
WITH TRUE REPENTANCE THEIR IS TRUE CHANGE, INSIDE AND OUT!
