PostSubject: GOD's WRATH   GOD's WRATH EmptyMon Aug 23, 2010 2:51 am

God’s Wrath

Wrath- Divine retribution for sin

Let us read:
Nahum 1:2

“The Lord is a jealous God,
Filled with vengeance and wrath.
He takes revenge on all who oppose him
And continues to rage against his enemies!”

There is a difference between our human wrath and Gods wrath. God is perfect and just and his wrath is justified because of our blatant disrespect for him and his son, our wrath is sinful and has impure motives. God’s wrath is to eliminate evil and restore peaceful living to the entire world. We don’t deserve to be angry about anything!

In Revelation 6:16 We see that his wrath is reserved for the final days when our time on earth has run out and it’s time for judgment The reason why I am pointing this out is because as humans we have a tendency to blame all natural disasters and calamities on God, “Oh God is punishing them, or us”…NOT true…There is a time and a day set aside for judgment…Things that happen today, such as, natural calamities- are just that- things that we have produced from Global Warming, Abuses of Nature, etc…Also, remember that we are living in a Satanic Realm, Satan is on the loose causing chaos everywhere trying to get people to turn their backs on God!

Put it to you bluntly, if God’s wrath was being poured out in any measure right now, there would be no doubt what it was! Lets look at 2 Chronicles 36:16:

“But the people mocked these messengers of God and despised their words. They scoffed at the prophets until the Lord’s anger could no longer be restrained and nothing could be done.”

God is restraining his wrath right now but there will come a time when he will let it loose! When this does happen it is called “ Judgment”…How do you make God mad like this and bring this judgment on? Read John 3:36

“And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.”

There you have it, anyone who does not obey the son….In other words rejecting anything the bible says and not obeying scripture….

Key Point: We bring God’s justified wrath on ourselves by our sinful ways!

Let’s read Romans 1:18:

“  But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness.”

Remember his anger is against:

1. sinful, wicked people
2. people who suppress the truth by their wickedness

If that doesn’t fit you then you do not have to worry about God’s wrath. Gods wrath is for the non Christians who refused Christ, the Christians who turned from Christ, and anyone who will not receive Christ. If you are saved and practice your faith you have nothing to worry about!

We all deserve condemnation for our sins but God in his mercy gave us a way to safety!

God has revealed himself to us plainly in everything that he has created, we cannot look around and not acknowledge that something bigger than us created things BUT people ignore that inner sense and keep denying God. We all have a inner sense from birth to know what God expects of us, we are the ones who choose to reject him. In rejecting him that is what is meant when the bible says that we are storing up judgment for ourselves. (Romans 2:5)

Page 3. God’s Wrath

We are so utterly lost and hopeless in our sins but as stated before God gave us a way out. That way is his son Jesus Christ. Read Romans 5:9:

“And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation”

Our faith, or belief in Christ will set us free from any judgment God has for us! It is that simple!!!

Key Point: The only way to God is through his son Jesus Christ!

Read Romans 9:22

“In the same way, even though God has the right to show his anger and his power, he is very patient with those on whom his anger falls, who were made for destruction.”

Can you believe how awesome God is???? Not only did he give us a way out of our sins (undeserving I might add) but he is patient in his waiting for us….WOW….His hopes is for all men to be saved, not all men will accept him, but he opens the door for anyone who knocks. Make sure that if you do not know about Christ you ask, and make sure that if you know about Christ that you are living up to your Christian potential!

1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 says:

“ For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us.  Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever.  So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”

God has given us all undeserved mercy from his wrath…Make sure that you take the opportunity to take advantage of it because time will one day run out and there is no second chances!!!

This study was to prove that God does have wrath but that it is appropriate and just. Not only is his wrath just but he is so loving that he gave us a way to avoid his wrath!!!

What a mighty God We Serve!!!

What way is Gods wrath different from mans?

What way have we brought Gods wrath upon ourselves?

Why do people always blame God every time something terrible happens?

How can we keep from making God mad?

What can we do as Christians to make sure that we do not receive judgment?
