GOD IS ALWAYS AT WORK

PLEASE READ LUKE CHAPTER 2 VERSES 1-7

NOTE:
LUKE WAS THE ONLY BIBLICAL AUTHOR WHO USED WORLD HISTORY
IN HIS WRITINGS. HE WAS A MAN OF Intelligence VERY FACTUAL
AND KNOWLEDGEABLE.

Vs 1-2 Talks of a "census" which is a population count.
He started his conversation like this because he was speaking to Greek audiences whom
were very interested in history and politics so he knew how to appeal to them and get their
attention.

Census was used in those times for military recruitment and to collect Jewish citizen's taxes.
Even though our minds and flesh tell us this was a man arranged event, God was using
this event spiritually the whole time for his plan, it led Mary and Joseph to a predestined
town and place to be counted, therefore fulfilling biblical prophecy that Christ would be
born of "David's Lineage", Jesus was counted in the census and historical records
show he was of the line of David because of that census.

Remember OLD TESTAMENT LAW eliminates the concept that we have now of STEP,
or IN LAWS, step meant then LITERALLY family member as in laws were literally family
members. Therefore Joseph because of his blood line made Jesus a descendant of
David, through Joseph- How profound!

VERSE 5 notes that Joseph and Mary at this point were in later stages of pregnancy,
still had not consummated their marriage ( meaning had sexual relations)
and Mary was showing and far along at this point in her pregnancy.
Joseph still was obedient and trusted God's will and loved and provided for her and the baby's needs.

VERSE 6-7 says even in their discomfort of riding a donkey and ready to deliver Jesus,
Mary pregnant by someone other then Joseph, sleeping in a uncomfortable cave that animals
used for a shelter in storms, GOD STILL was at work and had a LONG TERM plan for them all!!!
* God provides for us and gives us what we need, they were in a cave not a hotel or warm bed
but God STILL made sure they was out of the elements and provided for. Through all
the travel and trials neither Mary or Joseph complained of their situations, they lived in FAITH!

NOTE:
A manger historically proven for that time and date was usually a feeding tr-oft for animals,
in a cave. It was dark, wet, and nasty from animals residing there.
The American postcard image of Jesus in a wooden crib with warm crib with hay is
another attempt of man's at trying to control God. Man wants a certain image to boost
holiday cheer and sales, but that is not reality.

We should know the truth biblical and historically because we cannot limit who what
or how God uses things, and it is a powerful testimony to understand the real situation
and things they went through, they were real people who suffered real things for the birth of Jesus!
When we minimize the bigger picture we don't grasp the GODLINESS in the situation, God is the
strongest through us when we are at our weakest, mighty things can be learned and shown
through this story.

God is at work even when we do not think he is.
He works whenever he is needed, even in cold dark caves!
If Joseph and Mary had it rough and they were bringing JESUS into the world,
what makes you think as a Christian your life is going to be easy?

REMEMBER: Through our trials and discomforts we need to remember that God is
still in charge and working on a greater purpose, but he still takes the time in whatever the
situation to make sure that his children have all their needs provided for!
