DEFINING WICKEDNESS

WHAT IS EVIL?

A-Bad, wrong, worthless, vain.
B) Any force, action, or attitude that works in opposition to God.
C) Anything not in harmony with God.
NOTE: Wicked is anything evil.
Evil is selfish, evil is anything that does not have God in it.
( Evil+Wicked= Same thing)

1. THE BIBLE COMMANDS US TO STAY AWAY FROM EVERY
KIND OF EVIL ( 1 Thess 5:22)

A. Read Genesis 34:30-31
This verse speaks of how Simeon and Levi wanted revenge against Shechem, that was
only natural for them to feel- BUT they lied, stole, and murdered to get it instead of
allowing God to bring justice. Their desire for justice was right but their ways of
getting it was wrong
Because of what they did they brought dishonor to their father, so on his death bed
he cursed them.

THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES TO ANY SIN, BUT REVENGE IS GOD'S DUTY
BECAUSE HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO IS TRULY "JUST", AND FAIR.
WE ARE STRONGLY COMMANDED IN THE BIBLE NOT TO REPAY EVIL WITH EVIL!

B. Read Exodus 2:3
We are to take a stand against evil in a appropriate way.
Repaying wicked with wicked is appropriate, but what is appropriate?
Exodus 2:3 tells us how Moses was spared from the sin of murder.
We today can assist by calling the police, joining crime watches,
help foster or adopt children, spread the gospel, and so on.
There are many ways, we are to remember that the opposite of evil or wicked is LOVE.
PRACTICING love is acting against evil!

EVIL IS AS EVIL DOES!!!

2. AVOIDING EVIL

A. Read Numbers 16:26

This scripture tells us that we need to stay away from evil.
The bible tells us not to even touch evil things! If we do, we are told
that we will be held accountable for the sins that we have indulged in.
We are to never side with evil, we should heed this straight forward verse
and destroy ALL things that are evil and/or pagan behaviors and replace them
with godly ways and things.

We as Christians should not even be curious about anything that is evil,
or that is pagan behavior. ( Duet 12:30) Questions lead to following, so avoid
the trap as you learn to do so in Duet 12:30.

B. Read Judges 19:1-21

This scripture tells us that without God we can be capable of being deceived or committing evil.
It also tells us that wicked people give birth to evil, it tells us that they are trouble,
and they lie ( Psalm 7:14)

If we allow evil to run its course it will destroy us.
Evil births more evil.
Violent people become victims of violence, liars are deceived by others.
Sadly, in this cycle innocent people are hurt.

Sometimes God stops evil doers in their attacks from harming his followers,
then sometimes for reasons only he knows- he allows things to happen to us for his purposes.
We are to pray to God either way for his protection and trust in him!

One way or another, here or at judgment, God WILL be just and hand down his punishments
for what people do to Christians unjustly. The bible tells us clearly that evil will NOT last always!!!
( Ps. 21:11)

3. THE ROOT OF EVIL

Read Ps 141:4

Evil acts begin on the inside.
Evil acts are conceived by wicked desires.
We cannot just ask God to do everything we must take a initiative to make sure we
are spiritually fit and ask God to change our insides so what comes out will not be evil.

Remember also, planning evil is the same as doing evil and there are consequences to either!
( Proverbs 24:Cool

What we fail to realize is what we sit and think about in reality is what we are capable of doing,
IF we do not stop and repent while still in the "PLANNING" phases of our thoughts-
or we will end up doing it! Plotting hearts lack God's presence!

Read Isaiah 1:31

Even a small amount of evil can be destructive.
Peoples lives can be destroyed quickly by evil.
We must be careful of what we say and what we do so it doesn't ignite destructive fires.

Evil forces work against God and us ( Eph 6:12) that is why our Christianity is a daily
struggle we are at spiritual war. But through our trials and the evil that we face daily we
must always look to the good!

Titus 1:1 tells us that wicked people who do evil things have corrupted minds.
But godly people have pure hearts and think pure thoughts.
(16) goes on to tell us that their ways expose them in the long run, so to should our
good always expose our godliness. Titus 1:15 also tells us that we should seek/see God
or "purity: around us. That is what fuels our christian zeal to endure this race!
A mind that is focused on the good has no room inside to see or think evil.

Read Revelations 9:20-21

The book of Revelations tells us that sin decays and hardens hearts gradually eventually
people are so wicked that even when punished and given a chance to be restored the still rebel!
If you allow sin to be rooted and grounded in you instead of God's word then eventually you
will be lost to sin for good, it will consume and destroy you-physically, mentally, spiritually...

To think you could never become a reprobate mind is the first stage of denial that will lead
you right down the road to self destruction. We should always be willing to embrace our
flaws and change them!

4. BY-PRODUCTS OF LIVING FOR GOD :
